Is the Wall Mirror Opposite My Front Door Giving Me Bad Luck?

Here’s a Feng Shui Tip for the Day…

The Questions is:
Hi Gayle, I was reading somewhere that it’s a good to install a mirror opposite the front door to draw in prosperity and recently we installed a large mirror flat on the wall opposite our front door. But ever since we have had a lot of bad luck!!! We like the mirror there are there any solutions?!!

My Answer:
Hi Jenny,
Thanks for your question and the good outline of your situation.

Actually the “Feng Shui rumors” about adding a mirror opposite the front door to draw in prosperity are not a 100% true…

If you have your “unseen prosperity energies” opposite the front door and you hang the mirror in the right way – this can be very good…

But! if you don’t have prosperity energy there and the energies you do have at the front door are of the negative variety then the mirror could also draw these in (important to know right?!).

The first thing is we have to find out how you have added the mirror to the wall.

I have put together a small handout for you to read and see how you have actually added the mirror. Here is where you can get the handout for “How to Add Feng Shui Mirrors Opposite the Front Door”

If you’ve added it as per diagram 1 and you’ve had the bad luck after that – you may need to either remedy it as per some of the recommendations I’ve added in the handout or you might need to take the mirror down and install it somewhere else.

If you’ve installed the mirror as per diagram 3 – then this could just be a simple change to the way you’ve hung the mirror (or apply the remedies I’ve given as they will also help to fix that).

If you continue to have bad luck – I would experiment with removing the mirror to see if that changes anything.

Good Luck

Gayle

Use This Kitchen Remedy To Increase Health and Wealth in your Home…

Here’s a Feng Shui Tip for the Day…

The Questions is:
My bedroom is on the first floor and my bed is positioned directly over the stove in the kitchen below. I am wondering whether this has anything to do with my ongoing health problems. What can I do to change it. I don’t have many options with the position of the bed?

My Answer:
Hi Tracy,
Thanks for your question and good description.

Actually it’s true. Sometimes our own personal Chinese Astrology or even our own Personal Feng Shui Astrology can “react” with the stove and give us some health problems.

At other times, Health Conditions need a bit more attention from a Feng Shui point of view and in reality there is a whole list of things a Feng Shui Master would go through to help you work on health problems using Feng Shui (but you need a lot of Feng Shui Astrology Knowledge for this… sorry).

There is however, a very easy remedy you could apply to the stove which helps to balance the energy of the stove and this might help in your situation. You can also use this same remedy if you just want to increase the Health and Wealth aspect of your Kitchen.

Traditionally we use lucky bamboo for this remedy but you could substitute other more western equivalents if you would still like to implement the remedy and not have it clash with your interior design style.

To get our instructions and the proper criteria for the remedy installation visit:

Make sure you add enough earth and fire inclusions to make the remedy dominant in the fire and earth element (as per our remedy instructions).

Thank you so much Tracy for asking this question

Best of Luck

I am So Happy that Not all Feng Shui in the Kitchen is the Same…

Here’s a Feng Shui Tip for the Day…

The Questions is:
I have two questions regarding my kitchen! I have read that you cannot have anything red in the kitchen !!!???? It is true? And my compass shows that my stove is on the west! I know that the perfect placement will be south! But I can do nothing about that! Please advise me what to do!!! Thank you sooooooooooooo much !!! :))))) Best Regards Vickie:)

My Answer:
Hi Vickie,
Thanks for your question and good description.

Firstly it is NOT true that you cannot have red in the kitchen. I don’t know who makes these things up but the kitchen is technically ruled by the fire element and the most important thing to set up in the kitchen is the stove. In fact when we set up a kitchen with Feng Shui we are trying to harmonize all other parts of the kitchen around the stove placement. So sometimes a little bit of red in the right place can definitely enhance and strengthen the kitchen and the stove position…

The second thing is: in reality ALL BUILDINGS have their own unique horoscope. So the things where we say don’t have a door to the north, don’t put your stove in the NW or the West… at one level we do have a reason for saying them… For instance, on one level, a stove in the west area of the kitchen or home is weakened by the stove placement because fire melts metal and the west is ruled by the metal element. On the other hand, when it comes to accounting for the unique horoscope in your building you might make a different decision because something shows that you can override the original thinking.

So it’s not correct to think that all stoves have to go into the South location – just because the south is ruled by fire. There are many instances where you would not locate a stove in the south for other reasons… it could trigger toxic energy, it could harm one of the residents in that position, it could reduce the overall fortune of the family – there’s lots and lots of reasons why you would not do this kind of Feng Shui “generalization.”

Feng Shui is honestly not a “One-Size-Fits-All…” application which is a great relief because how strange would it be if we all had the same monologue building requirements!!!

After all… if you needed to go to a hospital for a heart operation, it’s not as though they only have one operation that they perform for every heart patient… Firstly they examine you to find out what you need and then they would work out which kind of operation you need based on their findings.

So the best advice I can give you in this instance is to make sure you don’t have any kind of fire and water conflicts in the kitchen (so this advice is probably different to what you expected right?). That means, no sink, fridge, dishwasher opposite the stove/oven or hotplates…

This is the best advice, considering I don’t know what your unique circumstances are…

Thank you so much Vickie for asking these questions - they are very good questions!

Best of Luck
Gayle

This Remedy Could Help To “Calm Down your Boss…”

Here’s a Feng Shui Tip for the Day…

The Questions is:
I sit in an office directly facing the door which leads to a small corridor. To the left of me is another door into the boss’s office. There is a lot of unrest at work and the boss is very controlling. I feel like I am in the middle of everything and he expects me to back him up. How can I remedy this situation and feel “safe” and make my job protected. I do not know who to trust - Jodie.

My Answer:
Hi Jodie,
Thanks for your question and description. By the sounds of your desk position you are in the middle of everything.

I am not sure of your desk layout (whether it is fixed or free standing) but I can say this, if you could turn yourself slightly to the left or right – instead of being face on with the corridor opposite you this would probably help.

You only need to take yourself “Offline” by a little (ie face 10cms to the left or the right when sitting at the desk). If you think about it – technically speaking you are opposite a mini T-intersection in the office and if the staff come through the door where the corridor is you will cop all the complaints…

If you do have the power to move your desk I would shift it slightly to left towards the boss. If you can position yourself like this – you may take some of the heat off with the boss (because he/she will feel like you are listening because you are geared towards them…).
On the other hand if you move your desk to the right your boss will probably become more controlling and even aggressive because they will feel like you aren’t listening (because you are oriented away from them – so they will make more effort to control!!).

In terms of who to trust, there is always disturbed dynamics when people use force to get their work done – so they perpetuate and even create staff problems. If this was me, I would not trust anyone because everyone can be easily influenced by bad Feng Shui like this… (so they fluctuate and are not easy to trust).

Have an attitude that you are there to co-operate with everyone – everyone will come to appreciate you/your vibe and this is a way that you can influence things yourself in an incognito way.

I also recommend you put a “five element bamboo remedy” on your desk opposite the small corridor. You can download the remedy sheet at this link… http://www.fengshui.com.au/misc_pages/LuckyBamboo.html I recommend you have either 3 stems or 6 stems of bamboo for this particular remedy. Make sure you add all five elements as per the remedy sheet.

Best of Luck
Gayle

Help My Apartment Has No Walls!!

Here’s a Feng Shui Tip for the Day…

The Questions is:
Dear Gayle, -I live in a small rented studio, will Feng Shui help me still because there are no chance to shift around the furniture as space is limited and I myself have seen it is almost impossible to rearrange. There are no rooms or partitions, just open the entrance and you see it all, bed, kitchen and toilet. Janine

My Answer:
Hi Janine,
Thanks for your question.

It’s is a very tricky Feng Shui problem when there are no rooms or separations in any “living arrangement” because in the long term when the bathroom is allowed to mix with everything else it creates health problems…

Still, I have managed to come up with a fix for this that could be do-able.

What I suggest is for you to hang light voile curtains (you can get them at IKEA) from the ceiling to floor, to create divisions. In particular you want to divide the kitchen from the bathroom and the bathroom from the area where you sleep.

You can choose the see through variety if desired because adding solid material may make your apartment feel “cluttered” if you try to add anything too solid. From an energetic point of view this remedy stands a good chance of being effective because it will still be sectioning things off – without creating the clutter – so the key thing here is choose a fabric that can be slightly see through like voile or an organza curtain (IKEA).

An easy way to fix this to the ceiling will be using simple mounting tape. That way you can gently peel it off the ceiling and wipe it clean using an adhesive remover – without too much trouble. Alternatively you could fix it with cup hooks and a piece of doweling rod if you want.

OK give that a try

Best of Luck
